Because you set the standards we are very pressured to break.
Last practice time, I heard 2013's song. It was good. And as of the moment, I'm sort of pessimistic.
Well, pessimist naman talaga ako. Kaya siguro normal lang to.
Nakakapressure lang.
I never really realized how big it was for my poem to be used as lyrics. I really thought it all boils down to arrangement and melody anyway. Now, because of my writing, it seems like I influenced a huge chunk of the creation of the melody (since inuna nila ipagawa yung lyrics bago yung melody).
This puts me in a really pressured position. The last time I wrote something for the class was 1st year mediscene and, well, we lost. The following year, I let Carla wrote everything and only criticized and fixed the script. We almost won.
This time, I wrote for the class AGAIN when it's our first time in the competition. More so, the two things I wrote both are serious and very socially aware.
If we lose this time, I swear, I'm going to believe I'm a bad omen. LOL.
Pressure. Wahahahahaha.
I hope we can bring '84 back. Basta sana lang talaga may makaintindi nung message nung kanta o may makaappreciate man lang.

Rakista
This came about because I am condemning Lipgloss for its utter and unavoidable mushiness. Haha.
Ngayon, well, haha. It became filled with too much teenage drama na parang hello ang babaw.
Thus, you guys should watch Rakista. Haha. I guess because the things that it presents are closer to home compared to that of Lipgloss’s.

So there. This entry also means that I’m still benign. No schoolwork yet. Grabe, I think this is also my first weekend this year that I’m not doing anything (kasi kung hindi may exam ako, kelangan ko magreview for upcoming exams or may trabaho ako during weekends.). Haha. Ang sarap maging bum!

Oh, and Pito speculates that Obama is the antichrist. Pero wala lang naman yun. Possibility lang ata. Or chance.

Ate Tina asked me to go back to MSC. I was almost tempted to say yes. After all, I have ZERO extra-curricular activity last sem and it would probably hold for this sem. I don’t even have the urge to give much attention to UP One Earth. (Sorry Gel!)
But I decided against it. Haha. I guess the trauma of being looked upon as a project-wrecker still has its toll on me. It wasn’t a good feeling you know. What’s worse was that afterwards, I felt like I didn’t deserve to feel that way anyway.
I don’t even think I’m going to volunteer for MSC next year. I’m fed up with the leadership crap. I don’t believe I have that capability anymore and it’s not like I still need those things for my resume. I’d rather sleep.

Dalawang Libo't Labing Lima
Gudlak buddy! Madali pa ang first year kaya pagsamantalahan mo na! Welcome to the UP College of Medicine!

A Love Letter To My First Patient Ever: Melonio
I'm guessing he's around 9-10 years old and no, I did not cure him of any grave disease whatsoever or prescribed any drugs that can alleviate any "wrong physical feeling" that he had. All I did was helping him get through a rite of passage to becoming a man, a rite fulfilled by almost all boys here in the Philippines.
Oo. Marunong na kong magtuli. AS IN. Gusto mo?
But, I did some errors when I was doing the circumcision of my first patient's dick. No, you don't have to say "oh no!" because I was able to make up for it. After all, it wasn’t my fault at all because the doctor that was teaching us what to do told me to cut further the foreskin of my patient’s penis. Unfortunately, the cut skin was too far from the corona of the penis so I had to sew it back before sewing the uppermost skin to the second layer of skin of the boy’s penis. The cut that I did was clean and smooth but the blooper that I did forced me to make almost six sutures to correct it and to finish the operation. To make matters worse, the skin of my patient was too thick that inserting the needle through it took too much effort to do and that my two other sutures got loose so I had to do it all over again. Thank God that Melonio, my first patient ever, was very brave. I knew he could already feel the pain when I was just doing my second suture but due to the limited supply of anesthesia, I can’t give him more so he had to endure the pain. Even so, thankfully, I finished successfully.
Nakakatuwa dahil 17 years old pa lang ako, marunong na akong magtuli at nagkaroon na ako ng unang “pasyente” samantalang kahit kalian yata ay hindi ko naman talaga naisip na magdodoktor na ako. Achievement to! Hahaha. :)
To Melonio: Thank you for helping me wake up, once again, the curiosity and thirst for knowledge that have long been sleeping inside of me.

A really sincere apology. Hahaha.
I'm starting to hate the fact that Cheska produces a lot of REALLY good entries while all I can come up with is a pathetic apology for an entry. Yes, I apologize to this blog for not really helping it serve its purpose in the world by having good blog entries. I apologize for having so much to write about, but still choosing not to (like a review for the movie "Gabriel," which has a really good concept; I'm not just sure if it jives with theological ideas and whether it is, at any point blasphemous. Still, it really has a good concept, somthing most hollywood movies lack nowadays since they just rip off japanese horror films now.).
So there. I'm just posting, AGAIN, so that at least I would have a post for the month March. Hey, I don't want to openly admit that I'm starting to lose my pasion in writing about just anything! Hehe.
Kidding aside, I do exert effort. I'm applying for the college of medicine's newspaper now. I'm placed no the news com, however, which is irritating because I hate writing in a very rigid manner (heck, even how to write dates have rules!). Seriously, I'm a feature writer by heart. This is torture. They're just lucky they teamed me up with my *ehem*imed*ehem*crush*ehem* which makes writing news, really, really, worthwhile. (Yes, pito, this means 2-3 in favor of me!) :D
Oh, and of course, since this is becoming a great update on what's happening in my life now, I would also like to announce that our batch's summer getaway would be none other than up manila. This means studying STILL when the rest of the college of medicine takes a break. I hate our life-draining curriculum. Haha.
By the way, the end of this year's second summer also marked the end of our last hard math subject (because the last math subject we would have to forcefully take up this summer, which would be easy daw according to the upper years)!! So then again, I love our curriculum. Hehe.
There. Nothing much is happening to my life anyway. It's just always full of "I have to study" mode since my scholarship was almost jeopardized by guess what subject - math! Hay. See! Even updating my blog through an entry about my personal experiences is boring! I seriously have to write again.
By the way, according to my elder sister, Sitti has this great quote about your passion before college would still be your passion after colloge. HAha, sabi ko na eh! One way or another, I'll have that documentary or that Palanca-winning-short story!

On doctors stripping on stage, Activated Charcoals, and the dullness of my blog
"Miss, anong waistline mo?"
"0.00000078 kilometers."
hahahaha. parang kahit puro decimal place, malaki pa rin. lol.
--//--
College of Med recently had its anual "Tao Rin Pala" variety show. And Imed2014 had its first exposure to it din.
in fairness, the upperclassmen were REALLY good. As in todo performance. nakakabilib.
--//--
my blog is struggling for new posts nowadays. sorry ah. sobrang busy kasi eh. at malamang sa mga susunod na linggo ganun pa rin. bakit pa kasi kailangang mag-college eh! haha.
pasensya blog. till next time. :)

Better Caesar than Beethoven
I've been having check-ups and tests at the PGH to determine why my left ear ceased to function back when I was in Grade 3. Finally, after 7 years. Haha. Well, at least I just really want to find out what caused it (and make sure it won't affect my right ear or affect me in any other way that would prevent me from becoming a doctor. sayang kaya ang 7 years!). My parents want to find out if I can hear again. It's okay for me if I won't be able to just as long as no other part of my being would be affected. After all, after 7 years, I think I've developed much adaptation to accept and live with the fact that I'm half-deaf. Just like Ceasar.
But see, the doctors are thrilled with my case. I think if Dr. House would meet me, he'll find me interesting enough to cure (or not yet because apparently I haven't had any life threatening moments which I hope would stay that way). Why thrilled? Apparently, (warning: medical jargons are about to pop up) a profound and sudden hearing loss that passes the Calorics Test is not normal. Why? I have no freakin' idea. I guess first year medical students (that are not even in the medicine proper yet!) still do not possess the ability to determine what test results mean. Haha. Seriously. I guess we can only guess. But I really did try to understand the stupid graphs that the machine that did my tympanometry produced or the stupid signs and graph-like thingies that the doctor wrote during my speech audiometry. I tried. But failed miserably. Haha.
To get to the point, the doctors want a CT scan of my temporal lobe and they have decided to refer me to their, guess what, consultant (Consultants are, well, the doctors who have finished their residency, fellowship, etc. Its a long process so they're well experienced. :P). Apparently, my case is serious or interesting enough to be taken in by the condultant. (We're talking about UP doctors here! But I guess, a specialist would be able to give a better diagnosis.) I'm yet to have my CT scan and my rendezvous with the *tantananan!* consultant.
Their (the doctors who checked me) guess is that I may possibly have an inborn condition that manifests only after people grew up. And the guess came with the warning that my right ear might also have the condition which would make me fully deaf if I'm not careful.
To make matters worse, my mom informed me that our famly DOES have a history of such a condition that resluts into ears becoming deaf. So the guess misght actually be true. (House, where are you when people need you?!)
The news came like a "whoah!". I mean, I'd rather be off like Ceasar than Beethoven! (well, except for the talents and such. hehe.) Seriously, I'd kill myself if the world decides to deprive me of the ability to hear. At least, I know I won't be able to take it well. Please, God, help.
Haha. Soemtimes we take for granted things. I took for granted the fact that I'm half-deaf. I actually somehow liked it because it makes me unique. Now its something serious. Way beyond being uniqe.
I just wish I'm way way beyond becoming "special".

My Gastrocnemia is Hot.
Haha.
Bad tongue.
See, powerful ang words. I once mentioned in one of my essays that I believe no matter how much actions can speek louder than words, words would hurt more than actions do.
Haha. Akala mo ang seryoso ng nangyari sa akin eh no na parang napaaway ako and all that. di naman. Napansin ko lang.
Tsaka wala na aksi akong masabi. Believe me, ang daming nangyayari sa buhay ko sa imed at sa upmanila (like the fact that I have another crush that sings like, whoah. She should have won. Stupid judges. Pero class 2010 ata siya haha. so either 4 years ang tanda niya sakin o 6 years. but who cares?! Haven't I just said she's really pretty and she sings like an angel?!) at nakakapagod na rin siya. I still have Gastrocnemias, auxins, giberillins, Colegio Dental de Liceo de Manila, and cos (A+B) to remember!
Hay. How unfortunate but I still have to go back to the Insular Board of Health that was established through Act no. 157 and its members (both active and honorary).

UPCM Class 2014: Walang Katapat
At unang birit pa lang, napatunayan na namin kaagad.
==========================================
UPCM Class of 2014
Labing-apat, Walang Katapat!
First Intarmed Class to Win the Lady Med Competition (2007)
First Freshman Class (LU I) to Win the Lady Med Competition (2007)

UPCM Class of 2014
Labing-apat, Walang Katapat!
First Intarmed Class to Win the Lady Med Competition (2007)
First Freshman Class (LU I) to Win the Lady Med Competition (2007)
==========================================
Lahat pinaghirapan. Lahat pinagpawisan at pinagtiyagaan. Lahat nagpursigi at naniwalang kaya naming ipamukhang may ibubuga ang intarkids.
It was one exhilirating and exciting event. Higit isang buwan naming pinaghandaan yung Lady Med at sobrang astig katrabaho ng 2014. Pulido trumabaho ang bawat isa. Nakakabilib. As in maasahan mo sila at alam nila yung responsibilidad nila sa class. And it felt so good na nagkaroon siya ng malaking bonus!
I was already hearing things like: "Ok naman yung contestant natin, kaso ibang klase talaga si miss fire!" and "Hmm, magaling si miss fire eh, medyo tagilid.."
Ibang klase yung pakiramdam nung inannounce yung nanalo tapos natameme yung upperclassmen dahil, bam!, bigla na lang taob silang lahat! We were able to show that abilities and talents are not at all related to age. halos lampas 6 years tanda nila samin.
We made history. And let us continue doing so. Conquer TRP at MediSCENE! Show them that we are something to be scared of!
Congrats 2014! Job well done, future doctors!
---
P.S. Kasabay namin silang pumalakpak at nagpugay nung announcement of winners! Salamat 2013!

"The Five People You Meet In Divisoria"
Kaya, no choice, kelangan naming mag-divisoria ni Shayne.
Dilemma # 1: What to bring, how to bring them.
As in todo-todo ang pagiging cautious namin.
Dilemma #3: Buying the stuff we came there for.
There were five people who magically helped us buy the things we needed.
So anong point?
Akala ko talaga mahohold-up kami or sumthing bago kami makauwi. nakalimutan ko, may Bantay nga pala ako. :)

Blame Sir Args
Sir Args never fail to hit me back. Sabi ba naman niya:
"Intamed ka di ba? Okay lang. Matagal pa (panahon mo para marealize)."
wah. nakakaiyak.

I realized on my way back home that I have to blog about Batch 2013's orientation program for us freshies for a very important reason: Crush ko si Ate Serine! Haha. She's pretty. Actually, the moment she entered the room, I immediately wished she's also a freshie. Then again, it wasn't exactly my lucky day. Ate Serine is, VERY unfortunately, a sophomore (or LU II, whichever you prefer, but I think the latter is more appropriate, hehe.), and is Nico's buddy that SHOULD HAVE BEEN MINE, if only I was able to snatch first Nico's card during the Buddy Selection, which was entitled BUDdychotomous Key, by the way, and is really cool expecially if you remember Bio 1 in Pisay (the greatest moments of my life *daydreams* hehe. Go Ma'am Cardenas!). There. I asked him to switch but he refused. :(
And why the hell am I talking in straight english? Rob, this is your fault. Haha.
Deh. At ang Pinaka-astig: "The Undercover 2013".
Anung nangyari sa activity na yun? Wala lang naman. All of a sudden, naging 41 lang naman ang intarmed students.
Tsaka mabait silang lahat. :)
Waw. Ang LAYO. Pero wala eh. Magaling kami. Third Place. Haha. Best na yun ah! :P
Batch 2010: "Basta 2010, Bigatin!" (wowowee!)
at ang BAtch 2013: "Dos Mil Trese, Lahat Posible! (Globe. Haha.)
May sponsors yung batches! Hehe.
Overall, this has been the best Orientation Program I've attended.

Tapos nakakaligaw. At parang lahat ng building dun luma. As in yung old spanish house yung dating tapo pagpasok mo may chandelier pang hindi gumagana na sasalubong sayo. hahaha.
----

M.D.
"Med students preffered"
haha. may nakalagay na ganyan dun sa dorm namin sa manila. kasama ko sina pito at joreb. tapos sina nico at KG nagcoconfirm pa. :) haha. masaya to!
i miss pisay already. especially the people that made it super special. bagong mga tao na naman makakasalamuha ko. bago na naman.
mamimiss ko kayong lahat. you guys just don't know how much i would.
7 years before real life comes. hope you guys will have a challenging yet lesson-filled pursuit of happyness. tsaka, till next time.
I WILL NOT FORGET.
