Dalawang Libo't Labing Lima

Gudlak buddy! Madali pa ang first year kaya pagsamantalahan mo na! Welcome to the UP College of Medicine!

A Love Letter To My First Patient Ever: Melonio

I'm guessing he's around 9-10 years old and no, I did not cure him of any grave disease whatsoever or prescribed any drugs that can alleviate any "wrong physical feeling" that he had. All I did was helping him get through a rite of passage to becoming a man, a rite fulfilled by almost all boys here in the Philippines.

Oo. Marunong na kong magtuli. AS IN. Gusto mo?

But, I did some errors when I was doing the circumcision of my first patient's dick. No, you don't have to say "oh no!" because I was able to make up for it. After all, it wasn’t my fault at all because the doctor that was teaching us what to do told me to cut further the foreskin of my patient’s penis. Unfortunately, the cut skin was too far from the corona of the penis so I had to sew it back before sewing the uppermost skin to the second layer of skin of the boy’s penis. The cut that I did was clean and smooth but the blooper that I did forced me to make almost six sutures to correct it and to finish the operation. To make matters worse, the skin of my patient was too thick that inserting the needle through it took too much effort to do and that my two other sutures got loose so I had to do it all over again. Thank God that Melonio, my first patient ever, was very brave. I knew he could already feel the pain when I was just doing my second suture but due to the limited supply of anesthesia, I can’t give him more so he had to endure the pain. Even so, thankfully, I finished successfully.

Nakakatuwa dahil 17 years old pa lang ako, marunong na akong magtuli at nagkaroon na ako ng unang “pasyente” samantalang kahit kalian yata ay hindi ko naman talaga naisip na magdodoktor na ako. Achievement to! Hahaha. :)

To Melonio: Thank you for helping me wake up, once again, the curiosity and thirst for knowledge that have long been sleeping inside of me.

Congrats Rob!

yun lang. simple, short, yet deserves a blog entry. :)

Basta kahit anong mangyari, bawal kang ma-corrupt in any way, ah!

Change the world. :)

P.S. Sorry I wasn't able to help that much. Naging busy ako all of a sudden eh. Sori. You won anyway so there. :)

PGH = The Snake Pit + 97

97 years na lang, kasing edad na ng blog na to ang PGH. naks. malapait na. :P

August 26, to be exact, at three years old na ang blog na to.

Happy Birthday, Snake Pit. :)

And so I post in this currently rotting blog.

It's hard to study in UP Manila, see. I don't own a laptop in any case (but you can make my life better and easier by givng me one! So call now! Call within the next five minutes and have the chance to give me a cool new phone!) and I most certainly do not want to waste money going to internet cafes just to bloghop and post a blog entry about things I'm sure my Limbic System would remember anyway. I'd rather eat. My dorm is expensive enough, thank you (not to mention we think we are being swindled already by our landlady. but that's debatable.). So there. Even with all the hype of UPM, I'd rather not post.

So why post now?

Well, let's just say my teachers were kind enough not to give me homework (wherein I would shout a loud and proud "yey!"). So I have time. And access (which my sister now provides. dati kasi ako bumibili ng net card eh. ngayon siya na. yey!).

So here are the more serious and relevant matters this entry is supposed to be about:

Babay KG! Adios to my oh-so-brave classmate and housemate that is brave enough to venture into the world of Singapore. Seriously, if I were you, I would have had a nervous breakdown way way before because I would most certainly be lost and dumbfounded if I'd find myself alone in a foreign country. But you do have your dreams and this path is certainly better for you. So good luck in Singapore! I know you are brave enough to tackle all the hindrances that you may encounter. Ingat ka do'n! And remember that iMed 2014 is always proud of you and that you'll always be number forty!

Rob's running for a position in the Annehoe. And his rival is a *toot*. haha. sorry, sorry. scratch that. what I mean is that his rival is a real POLITICIAN. Foul Play kung mag-campaign eh! (And this is the part where I'll start speaking in tagalog because seriously, it's more effective to say these thing in Filipino. (Back to my Americanized and overly unnationalistic and apathetic mode of talking.) Besides, you told people that Rob is mayabang (say that in a conyotic way as if imitating a miriam student). Eh fishing nga lagi yang taong yan eh! Joke ka naman eh! I haven't even seen him be mayabang in any way and we've been friend for four years! Anyway, in case you don't win, Rob, it just means it's not for you and that Annehoe would have to stick to people like her. Good luck sa candidacy! And I'm sorry with this part of my blog entry. I can't help it, see. :)

I love my intarmed classmates. And this part needs no expounding whatsoever. :D

I don't know what else to write so I'm off to make my Pisay movie review. :P

Amici

Amici means friends. Naks.

Those workshops couldn't have been the same without you! Actually, Eng journ couldn't have been the same. Nakakainspire kasi yung passion mo for journ. Sobrang dami kong tanong na gumugulo sakin for so long na sinagot niyo lang in a quick second. At lahat yun ay dahil sa inyo. For that, I owe you guys a lot. Thank you so much. :D

I guess all I want to say is that I'm overwhelmed by the fact that God made ways for me to become your friend.

Thanks for making a mark in my life. :D

Graduation Tribute #1

I was inspired earlier by the fact that I'm gonna leave pisay soon so I wrote something like this. Hay. I would try to continue writing such tribute until graduation. :)

10 Things I learned in Pisay about leadership service to people:

Like Cheska, I should always remember that one is never unimportant. Everyone’s effort matters and makes a great deal of contribution in reaching a goal. I should never waste any my subject’s efforts no matter how small they may seem to be.

Like Jecay, I should learn how to talk to my subjects properly and not shout at them almost all the time. A compassionate approach also works well and makes sure that you’re not hated.

Like Dane, I should always listen to others, accept suggestions, and yet fail not to make my own decisions.

Like Clar, I should always lead my subjects for God and, if ever, to God. Remember that each of them is like brother/sister. I should always see God in them.

Like Ed, I should always love the group that I handle and fight for them.

Like Egg, my commands should always come with a smile and end with a joke. I should be approachable.

Like Joriel, I should always get along with my subjects but always carry an air of authority every time I need to.

Like what Sir Vlad said, I should always remember that the reason I would be able to lead is because my subjects would do half, if not all, of the job for me.

Because of AJ, I learned that you can never please every one with who you are. Know how to deal with it. Change for the better and accept criticisms for, after all, you are only human.

Like Rob, I should lead my subjects for them and because I love them; not because I just want to reach the goal, the position, the power, the fame or because I need help to attain he goal. Leadership is service to OTHER PEOPLE, not to self.

Thanks guys. You've made me better.
