Miracles happen when you believe

Astig.

Salamat God! :)

Why WORRY when you can PRAY?

Fine. I failed to attend mass for two straight weeks now. Add to that, I think i'm on the verge of spiritual death made worse by the fact that I'm really just relying on CYA and YFC to somehow try to revive me. And don't get me wrong, God has been proving to me these past few months that only He is my happiness - I've been so dead lonely and sad for no reason at all, feeling so defeated and unfulfilled, these past few months. And yes, this has aggravated my desire to actually rejuvenate myself and bring me back to that 4th-year-high-school version of me that spreads his arms wide open for Him (and this makes me miss Pisay and my batch sooo much). But see, doing so is starting to become more challenging too. After all, college life had brougt more things to think about, stealing away priorities and destroying daily schedules. There's just so much to do in so little time that I so regret not putting my faith in stronger foundations prior to college and all this "busy-ness."

More often than not, I find myself envious of Pito reading his Christian books at the dorm and guilty whenever he plays praise songs from his laptop as our background music as we study taxonomy and comparative anatomy.

But you know what, God knows it's my birthday soon. And probably He too knows that I'm also in a position wherein I still have a lot to face (come on, face it, we're yet in our fifth week of school but ALL of us are already tired with the demands of our academic life alone, not to mention our extra-curricular activities in the college and in the university) and a lot to be tired for. I bet He knows that I'm soon to face my worst worries and that I tend to falter and give up whenever I worry.

So, He gave me a gift. And He did even after my two weeks of not attending mass and my being the worst son ever for the past months. (God, why do you always make me feel guilty? You know I don't deserve it.)

The priest at the mass a while ago gave a good sermon, which was very unexpected since a lot of priests nowadays do not give such heartfelt sermons that can help both spiritual and practical. He recalled how he often worries and feels defeated by the changes that come into his life. And he shared that after all of the things he does just to take away the depressions that he feels, only one often proves to be most effective: prayer. And I guess, from now on, I would often pray. :)

Oh and he shared how deaf people tries to escape from the world whenever they want to just stop talking to other people (they use sign language, remember) or just stop worrying even for a while: they close their eyes. And in doing so, they see more of themselves. :)

A Love Letter To My First Patient Ever: Melonio

I'm guessing he's around 9-10 years old and no, I did not cure him of any grave disease whatsoever or prescribed any drugs that can alleviate any "wrong physical feeling" that he had. All I did was helping him get through a rite of passage to becoming a man, a rite fulfilled by almost all boys here in the Philippines.

Oo. Marunong na kong magtuli. AS IN. Gusto mo?

But, I did some errors when I was doing the circumcision of my first patient's dick. No, you don't have to say "oh no!" because I was able to make up for it. After all, it wasn’t my fault at all because the doctor that was teaching us what to do told me to cut further the foreskin of my patient’s penis. Unfortunately, the cut skin was too far from the corona of the penis so I had to sew it back before sewing the uppermost skin to the second layer of skin of the boy’s penis. The cut that I did was clean and smooth but the blooper that I did forced me to make almost six sutures to correct it and to finish the operation. To make matters worse, the skin of my patient was too thick that inserting the needle through it took too much effort to do and that my two other sutures got loose so I had to do it all over again. Thank God that Melonio, my first patient ever, was very brave. I knew he could already feel the pain when I was just doing my second suture but due to the limited supply of anesthesia, I can’t give him more so he had to endure the pain. Even so, thankfully, I finished successfully.

Nakakatuwa dahil 17 years old pa lang ako, marunong na akong magtuli at nagkaroon na ako ng unang “pasyente” samantalang kahit kalian yata ay hindi ko naman talaga naisip na magdodoktor na ako. Achievement to! Hahaha. :)

To Melonio: Thank you for helping me wake up, once again, the curiosity and thirst for knowledge that have long been sleeping inside of me.

UPCM Class 2014: Walang Katapat

At unang birit pa lang, napatunayan na namin kaagad.
==========================================
UPCM Class of 2014
Labing-apat, Walang Katapat!
First Intarmed Class to Win the Lady Med Competition (2007)
First Freshman Class (LU I) to Win the Lady Med Competition (2007)

==========================================

Lahat pinaghirapan. Lahat pinagpawisan at pinagtiyagaan. Lahat nagpursigi at naniwalang kaya naming ipamukhang may ibubuga ang intarkids.

It was one exhilirating and exciting event. Higit isang buwan naming pinaghandaan yung Lady Med at sobrang astig katrabaho ng 2014. Pulido trumabaho ang bawat isa. Nakakabilib. As in maasahan mo sila at alam nila yung responsibilidad nila sa class. And it felt so good na nagkaroon siya ng malaking bonus!

I was already hearing things like: "Ok naman yung contestant natin, kaso ibang klase talaga si miss fire!" and "Hmm, magaling si miss fire eh, medyo tagilid.."

Ibang klase yung pakiramdam nung inannounce yung nanalo tapos natameme yung upperclassmen dahil, bam!, bigla na lang taob silang lahat! We were able to show that abilities and talents are not at all related to age. halos lampas 6 years tanda nila samin.

We made history. And let us continue doing so. Conquer TRP at MediSCENE! Show them that we are something to be scared of!

Congrats 2014! Job well done, future doctors!
---
P.S. Kasabay namin silang pumalakpak at nagpugay nung announcement of winners! Salamat 2013!

Amici

Amici means friends. Naks.

Those workshops couldn't have been the same without you! Actually, Eng journ couldn't have been the same. Nakakainspire kasi yung passion mo for journ. Sobrang dami kong tanong na gumugulo sakin for so long na sinagot niyo lang in a quick second. At lahat yun ay dahil sa inyo. For that, I owe you guys a lot. Thank you so much. :D

I guess all I want to say is that I'm overwhelmed by the fact that God made ways for me to become your friend.

Thanks for making a mark in my life. :D

no, this is not an entry to rant about life, about pisay, about whatever because once, in my entire life, the frustations did not own me at all. i own them.

"If you can let go of it, you own it. If you can't let go of it, it owns you." - sir vlad

somehow, the pains, no matter how intense they were, mattered no more. there were no bruises, no scars, nothing.

para akong may shield. parang everytime na may bad news na dadating, everytime may frustration na bago, someone would whisper in my ears: "kaya mo yan."

thanks God. I love you so much.

Salamat God.

I realized just now that my Simbang Gabi wish came true. haha. :D Salamat God. At least now, I have more options.

My mom was really happy. And I've never seen her feel so satisfied with my achievements since grade school graduation. Hehe.

Thanks God. That was overwhelming. :)

Gusto kong sumayaw

i wasn't able to sing yesterday with Himig Agham because of my sore throat.

but it was still worth it.

I was bruised many times.

but it was still worth it.

I slept so little these past few days.

but it was still worth it.

I surenderred every ounce of dignity I had just to choreograph.

But it was still worth it.

after all, GOD proved to me that indeed, the bruises and sweat are all WORTH it.

Gusto kong sumayaw ng sariling sayaw!
